Ukrainian forces have launched a coordinated drone offensive against Russian-held Crimea, successfully knocking out the main power substation in Sevastopol. The strike, which targeted critical infrastructure, has left the region's largest city struggling with power outages that officials warn may persist until Wednesday evening.
Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, confirmed that the operation hit 48 military-related sites, including the vital substation. This assault is part of a broader strategy by Kyiv to degrade Russian logistics, disrupt oil revenues, and isolate the peninsula, which has been under Russian control since 2014.
The impact on the ground is significant; beyond the loss of electricity, the city is grappling with severe fuel shortages and panic-buying as residents face stifling 30C temperatures. While Moscow-installed governor Mikhail Razvozhayev attempted to project defiance, the reality is that the logistical hub is under immense pressure.
The strikes extend beyond Crimea, with recent drone activity reported near Russian military installations and oil refineries, signaling a persistent and escalating effort by Ukraine to strike deep into Russian-held territory and beyond.
As the conflict continues, the strategic targeting of power and supply lines remains a central pillar of Ukraine's effort to force a shift in the status quo.
