President Trump is done waiting for the European Union to stop its protectionist games. In a clear-eyed move to protect American interests, the President has issued an ultimatum to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen: drop all levies on U.S. goods to zero by July 4th, or face a massive hike in tariffs.

While EU bureaucrats continue to drag their feet, hiding behind complex legislative processes and internal squabbles, the President is prioritizing the American economy.

The EU has been stalling on a trade deal that was initially struck last year, with European lawmakers attempting to attach strings to the agreement that would exempt their steel and aluminum from broader U.S. global tariffs. Meanwhile, the administrative state is attempting to undermine the President’s authority, with the U.S.

Court of International Trade recently ruling that the President’s 10% global tariff policy was not justified under specific trade laws. This judicial overreach, which applies to a limited number of importers, is just another hurdle in the President's mission to correct long-standing trade imbalances.

Despite the legal noise and the slow-moving gears of European bureaucracy, the President remains committed to ensuring that American companies and workers are no longer treated as a piggy bank for foreign markets.
