The legal crusade against Donald Trump continues as E. Jean Carroll’s legal team formally requested that a judge enforce the collection of $5 million in damages, which has ballooned to approximately $5.8 million with interest.
This move follows the Supreme Court’s decision to decline a review of the civil case, in which a New York jury previously found the former president liable for sexual abuse and defamation regarding allegations dating back to the 1990s.
Carroll’s lawyers, who had previously granted delays in the payment process, now insist that the time for cooperation has expired, citing the exhaustion of legal appeals.
Throughout the proceedings, Trump has consistently maintained his innocence, labeling the accusations a fabrication and characterizing the litigation as a clear instance of political lawfare and the weaponization of the justice system.
Despite the jury’s verdict and the affirmation of the trial judge's conduct by a federal appeals court, Trump continues to contest the legitimacy of the proceedings, including a separate 2024 judgment involving $84 million in damages.
As the former president vows to continue fighting these cases, his recent social media posts reiterating his denial of the claims have been promptly submitted by Carroll’s counsel as part of their latest filing.
