Somaliland has taken a bold step in asserting its independence by opening an embassy in Jerusalem, a move that underscores its growing alliance with Israel. The diplomatic mission, located in a West Jerusalem technology park, was inaugurated during an official visit by Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lauded the decision to place the embassy in Jerusalem, Israel’s eternal capital, drawing a parallel between Somaliland’s quest for sovereignty and Israel’s historical rights to the city.
While globalist entities and hostile regimes—including China, Turkey, and the African Union—have predictably criticized Israel’s recognition of the breakaway state, the two nations are moving forward with cooperation on natural resources, including oil and rare earth minerals.
Somaliland, which has maintained its own government, currency, and security forces since 1991, views its strategic Red Sea coastline as a key asset for this partnership.
Despite the predictable protests from the Somali government and the Palestinian Authority, which continue to cling to outdated diplomatic norms, Israel and Somaliland are prioritizing national interests and mutual security over the disapproval of the international community.
