The city of Zaporizhzhia, located just 15 miles from the front lines, is facing a brutal surge in Russian aggression as Moscow pivots to new, lethal drone tactics.

Russian forces are now utilizing long-range mothership drones and mesh networking technology to strike deep into the city, targeting schools, petrol stations, government offices, and residential high-rises.

Despite being pushed back from the city's immediate perimeter, Russian units are compensating with these advanced strike capabilities, forcing local officials to conduct city council meetings in underground shelters.

Acting mayor Regina Kharchenko confirmed that the enemy has ramped up its campaign of terror against civilian infrastructure, including municipal transport and private vehicles.

While Ukrainian forces have successfully intercepted hundreds of drones in recent weeks, the constant threat of bombardment has become a grim reality for the 750,000 residents who remain. Local authorities are scrambling to install anti-drone nets and shatter-resistant film on public buildings to mitigate the damage from these relentless attacks.

Despite the proximity of the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and the daily danger, many residents remain defiant, refusing to abandon their homes to the invaders.

The escalation highlights the ongoing necessity of Ukrainian efforts to disrupt Russian logistics and fuel supplies as the only effective counter to Moscow's persistent campaign of violence.
