Yemen's Offensive Strikes Back Against Iranian Terror

By reclaiming its territory, Yemen defends sovereignty, curbs Iranian aggression, and upholds the rule of law vital to liberty.

Yemen's internationally recognized government has launched an all‑out military offensive to reclaim territory seized by the Houthi rebels, a militant group acting as a proxy for the Iranian regime. This operation is not merely a territorial push; it is a defense of national sovereignty and a direct counter to Iranian‑backed terror that threatens regional stability.

The Houthis have recently taken control of the Red Sea coastline and the critical Bab al‑Mandab Strait, chokepoints through which a significant portion of global shipping passes. They have also launched ballistic missiles and drones at Saudi Arabian oil facilities, including Aramco sites, in an attempt to disrupt the world's energy market and intimidate neighboring states.

President Rashad al‑Alimi announced the offensive in a televised address, vowing to restore state authority across the entire country after a decade of Houthi occupation in the capital, Sanaa. The Yemeni government’s aim is to reestablish lawful administration and end the insurgents’ stranglehold on vital supply routes, including attempts to encircle the city of Taiz.

Backed by the Saudi‑led coalition, Yemeni forces are conducting sustained operations against Houthi strongholds such as Saada. This coordinated response demonstrates that a lawful government, when supported by regional partners, can enforce order and push back against illicit armed groups.

By confronting Iranian‑backed aggression, Yemen is defending the principles of liberty and accountable government. Allowing a terrorist proxy to hold strategic maritime routes would undermine free trade, jeopardize energy supplies, and embolden further destabilization across the Middle East.

The world should recognize that decisive military action, grounded in legitimate authority and aimed at securing sovereign territory, is essential to preserve peace. Supporting Yemen’s effort to roll back Iranian influence upholds the rule of law and protects the broader international community from the spread of terror.
