Trump's Iran Response Defends Sovereignty and Deters Terror

By using frozen assets to fund a measured military reply, the administration upholds American liberty while making clear that aggression will not be tolerated.

President Trump’s decision to meet Iranian aggression with a decisive military response is the necessary move to safeguard American liberty, sovereignty, and the rule of law.

The Iranian regime launched a series of drone strikes targeting U.S. military facilities and regional allies, violating a prior memorandum of understanding and continuing attacks on maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, which has pushed crude oil prices above $100 a barrel.

In response, the President has vowed to employ frozen Iranian assets to cover the damages inflicted on ships and cargo, while intensifying the U.S. military campaign to degrade Iran’s command centers, drone storage, and coastal surveillance capabilities, and has signaled that combat operations larger than any seen before are under consideration.

This approach holds the regime accountable without asking American taxpayers to foot the bill, reinforces deterrence, preserves national sovereignty by keeping defense measures within existing resources, and reflects a limited‑government principle of using what is already available rather than expanding spending.

Critics label the move incendiary, yet allowing such aggression to go unanswered would undermine liberty and invite further threats; Nigeria’s recent military expansion—authorizing 28,000 new troops, four new army divisions, bringing the total to twelve, backed by a 5.41 trillion naira defense budget and plans for 50,000 additional police—shows a similar resolve against terror, and the administration’s tariffs on sixty trading partners, ranging from 10% to 12.5% and targeting forced‑labor practices, further demonstrate an America‑first commitment to economic sovereignty.

By taking a firm stand, the administration restores deterrence, protects liberty, upholds lawful order, and signals that the United States will not tolerate state‑sponsored terror, thereby securing the nation’s independence and reinforcing the principles of limited government and the rule of law.
