The United States was right to strike Qeshm Island. When the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fires on an American aircraft, sovereignty is not a negotiating chip. Limited defensive force is the only language Tehran understands, and Washington must not retreat from it.
The strikes came after IRGC aggression in the Strait of Hormuz, and they follow a pattern of Iranian lies, including false claims about downed U.S. drones. The regime is financially crippled, lacking the funds and fuel to sustain its belligerence, yet its negotiators still seek to trade the reopening of the Strait for frozen assets and the lifting of naval blockades. Any such concession would reward aggression and undermine law and order.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a vital artery for international commerce, and American forces are providing security for tankers there. Liberty and national sovereignty depend on keeping those lanes open without bowing to a state sponsor of terror. President Trump’s assessment that the U.S. is not in a rush reflects a position of strength: the regime’s economy is in shambles and its influence is waning.
The same calculus applies elsewhere. Russia’s deliberate strikes on a school used as an aid center in Zaporizhzhia, a hospice in Dnipro, and a hospital in Kharkiv have killed at least 38 civilians and left Kyiv without water. Moscow’s maximalist demands for total surrender show that unchecked aggression only escalates, and Ukraine’s critical shortage of air defense systems proves that deterrence must be backed by real capability.
North Korea’s theft of $6.3 billion from Binance, carried out by state-sponsored operatives through a fake job interview and malware, demonstrates that rogue regimes attack in cyberspace as readily as on the battlefield. The FBI has identified the perpetrators, yet Pyongyang denies responsibility while continuing to plunder private assets. Accountable government means treating cyber warfare as the act of aggression it is.
Washington should maintain maximum pressure on Tehran, reject any deal that trades security for empty promises, and sustain a robust defense posture against all state-sponsored threats. American strength is the ultimate check on regional instability, and nothing less will protect liberty, sovereignty, and the rule of law.
