Trump's Arch Is a Necessary Statement of Strength

The arch is not merely a monument but a strategic signal to adversaries.

The United States must project strength through both tangible military capability and unmistakable symbolism, for the world is watching and adversaries are testing the nation's resolve.

President Trump's planned 250‑foot triumphal arch, set to rise across the Potomac River from Washington D.C. near Arlington National Cemetery, will be adorned with golden eagles and a winged Lady Liberty, and will bear the inscriptions 'One Nation Under God' and 'Liberty and Justice for All'.

Beyond its symbolic grandeur, the arch is designed as a high‑tech military complex, equipped to house and deploy drones and snipers, with dedicated ammunition storage on‑site, a feature the President says was added at the strong request of the U.S. military.

The need for such unambiguous displays of power is underscored by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, where Kyiv launched its largest drone barrage against Moscow, striking a major oil refinery that supplies over a third of the region's fuel.

That assault, which President Zelensky confirmed targeted facilities fueling the Russian war machine, demonstrates that decisive action is the only language adversaries understand, a lesson that should inform American policy.

In contrast, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's refusal to step down after his CDU party suffered historic defeats—failing to clear the 5% threshold in Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern and being outperformed by the far‑left Die Linke in Berlin—exposes the peril of ignoring the electorate's will.

The arch, the drone strike, and the German election all point to a single truth: leadership that ignores reality and fails to project strength invites instability. The United States must therefore embrace policies that combine military readiness with clear symbolism, ensuring that the nation's resolve is never mistaken for weakness.
