Defend Sovereignty: Strike Terror, Aid Victims

Decisive military responses to Iranian-backed aggression and Iranian truce violations protect liberty, while humanitarian aid must not compromise national security.

The recent Israeli strikes and American retaliation show that defending sovereignty requires force against those who reject peace and threaten liberty.

Israel launched targeted drone strikes in southern Lebanon against individuals posing a direct threat to its forces, just one day after a historic US‑brokered framework agreement was signed in Washington to establish lasting peace and restore Lebanese sovereignty in the south.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the agreement a significant blow to Iran’s malign influence and its proxy Hezbollah. Under the deal Israel will withdraw from the South Litani area if the Lebanese army assumes exclusive control, while maintaining a necessary security buffer zone.

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem rejected the framework, labeling it humiliating and vowing to continue armed resistance, prompting Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz to order forces to prepare for an extended presence in the security zone to safeguard the Israeli border.

The United States responded in kind after Tehran violated a truce, striking Iranian missile and drone storage facilities and coastal radar positions following a drone attack on a commercial cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz that forced the International Maritime Organization to halt the evacuation of over 11,000 stranded sailors.

President Trump declared Iran’s “foolish violation” of the truce would not be tolerated, and Vice President JD Vance warned that any further violence would be met with overwhelming force. Bahrain condemned Iranian drone activity as a flagrant violation of its sovereignty, underscoring the regime’s role as a destabilizing force.

These actions uphold the law of nations, protect freedom of navigation, and send a clear message that rogue regimes cannot dictate the terms of international maritime law. Allowing terror groups and hostile states to act with impunity erodes liberty and invites further aggression.

Meanwhile, Venezuela faces a dire humanitarian crisis after back‑to‑back earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude struck La Guaira, leaving at least 1,430 dead and an estimated 50,000 missing.

International rescue teams from the United States, Mexico, Spain, the UK, Colombia, Switzerland, and El Salvador have arrived, and interim President Delcy Rodrguez has coordinated with President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to ensure the continued delivery of essential aid.

While compassion demands we assist those in peril, such aid must not distract from the imperative to confront terror and tyranny. Liberty and order endure only when nations are willing to act decisively against those who threaten them, even as they extend a helping hand to victims of natural disaster.
