Sovereignty Over Subservience: Why National Interest Must Dictate Global Policy

True independence requires nations to prioritize their own economic and security needs over the whims of international activists and regional mediators.

National sovereignty is not a luxury to be traded away for global approval; it is the fundamental right of any state to secure its own future. Whether it is the extraction of natural resources or the securing of vital maritime corridors, a government's primary duty is to its own people and their prosperity, not to the demands of international activists or the interference of third-party mediators.

In Brazil, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is making a necessary stand for economic reality. By prioritizing offshore oil exploration in the Equatorial Margin, the Brazilian administration is choosing energy security and jobs for regions like Oiapoque over the dictates of green alarmists. To sacrifice a potential economic windfall—a 'passport to the country's future'—to satisfy foreign environmental groups is a betrayal of the national interest.

This principle of prioritizing security over external interference is equally vital in the Middle East. The United States must remain steadfast in its mission to neutralize the Iranian threat and ensure the stability of the Strait of Hormuz. While regional actors like Oman may attempt to position themselves as neutral mediators, American national security interests must take precedence. The mission to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran cannot be sidelined by backchannel diplomacy or secondary negotiations.

Global stability is further threatened by the unchecked aggression seen in the escalating conflict between Russia and Ukraine. As both nations engage in brutal, reciprocal strikes involving hundreds of drones and missiles, the human cost continues to rise. The targeting of energy infrastructure and logistics hubs demonstrates that this is a war of attrition where the stakes for regional stability are absolute.

Meanwhile, the authoritarian grip of the Chinese Communist Party illustrates the danger of abandoning economic freedom for state control. By censoring tributes to former Premier Zhu Rongji, President Xi Jinping is attempting to erase the memory of an era defined by economic reform. This suppression of historical narrative is a desperate attempt to hide the stagnation caused by state-managed decline.

Whether facing environmental pressure in South America, terrorist threats in the Middle East, or censorship in Asia, the lesson remains the same: a nation's strength is derived from its ability to act decisively in its own interest. Liberty and prosperity depend on leaders who prioritize the security and economic independence of their citizens above all else.
