Mokha's Fall Exposes the Danger of Appeasing Iran

The seizure of Mokha by Iranian-backed Houthis is not merely a regional incident but a direct assault on the free flow of commerce and the sovereignty of nations.

The Houthi seizure of Mokha is a direct threat to the free flow of commerce and a test of America's resolve.

The Houthi insurgency, a direct proxy of the Iranian regime, has seized the strategic port city of Mokha, placing their forces just 75 kilometers from the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a vital chokepoint for global trade between Asia and Europe.

The militants have already imposed a maritime embargo on Saudi vessels and have launched a barrage of missiles and drones targeting Saudi oil facilities and civilian population centers.

By solidifying their control over the western coast and seizing islands like Zuqar, the Houthis have driven the regional threat to energy security and global commerce to a boiling point. Tarek Salah, leader of the pro-government National Resistance Forces, confirmed his command center was forced to relocate following a brutal offensive that he explicitly stated was planned and supported by Tehran.

The economic consequences are already evident, with oil prices surging to $100 a barrel this week, a direct consequence of escalating hostilities in the Gulf and attacks on Saudi infrastructure. President Donald Trump has pointed to the ongoing tensions with Iran as a primary driver of these price hikes.

The international community cannot afford to stand by while Iranian proxies choke a vital trade route; a robust response is required to restore order and protect liberty. The United States must demonstrate that it will not tolerate the seizure of strategic infrastructure by terror groups, and it must work to ensure the free passage of goods through the Red Sea.

Only by confronting this aggression can the sovereign order that underpins free markets and individual freedom be preserved, and the principle that law must prevail over the law of the jungle be reaffirmed.
