Stop the Houthi Onslaught Now

The United States must lead a decisive response to the Houthi attacks, safeguarding allies and deterring Iranian aggression.

The Houthi attack on Saudi airports is a coordinated campaign that threatens regional stability and the safety of civilians. In the latest wave, Iran‑backed Houthi militants launched ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones at civilian infrastructure, leaving one Pakistani resident dead and eleven injured; a preceding strike killed thirteen people and wounded more than three hundred, and the victims include a U.S. citizen.

Such violence undermines the sovereignty of a key Western ally and erodes the norms that protect non‑combatants. The Houthis' vow to turn every Saudi airport into a target demonstrates a blatant disregard for international law and the principle of civilian immunity.

The group operates as a proxy for the Iranian regime, which supplies the missiles and strategic direction. The collapse of the 2022 ceasefire, driven by the Houthis' push to establish an Iranian satellite state on the Arabian Peninsula, shows that the threat is both persistent and expanding.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has condemned the strikes, and President Trump has indicated that the United States will move quickly to determine a response. Yet rhetoric alone cannot deter further attacks; the administration must translate that commitment into decisive action, including targeted strikes on Houthi missile sites and expanded intelligence cooperation with Saudi Arabia.

The same disregard for sovereignty that fuels the Houthi campaign also appears in the International Criminal Court's attempts to assert jurisdiction over American soldiers and in the Polish plot to assassinate Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The Trump administration's sanctions against the ICC and the swift arrest of the suspect in Poland demonstrate that firm, principled responses are essential to preserving the rule of law.

Confronting the Houthi threat is not merely a matter of regional security; it is a test of whether the United States will stand with its allies against the forces of lawlessness. By rejecting appeasement and upholding sovereignty, the nation can protect the freedoms and safety of its citizens and partners.
