European Allies Demand Five Conditions for Ukraine Peace Deal

As the U.S. shifts focus toward Iran, the E3 powers double down on security guarantees for Kyiv.

Britain's Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer welcomes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Downing Street on June 7, 2026 in London, England.

The leaders of the UK, France, and Germany—the so-called E3 group—met with Volodymyr Zelensky in London to formalize five conditions for a peace deal to end the ongoing conflict with Russia.

These conditions include an immediate cessation of hostilities, negotiations based on current front-line positions, and the establishment of robust security guarantees for Ukraine. The meeting comes as the United States shifts its strategic focus toward the war with Iran, leaving European powers to solidify their stance on the Eastern front.

The E3 leaders reaffirmed that Ukraine’s sovereign right to determine its own security arrangements, including potential NATO membership, must be respected, directly challenging Moscow’s demands for neutrality.

The diplomatic push follows a period of intensified violence, including a Russian drone strike on a spent nuclear fuel storage facility near Chornobyl and continued deadly attacks on civilian areas in Zaporizhzhia.

While Zelensky has attempted to open direct lines of communication with Vladimir Putin, the Russian leader continues to reject such overtures, insisting that the war will only conclude once Russia’s objectives are fully achieved.
