The Yemeni government has finally launched a decisive military campaign to reclaim territory held by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, signaling a necessary push to restore state authority.

President Rashad al-Alimi announced the operation in a televised address, declaring that the time has come to retake the republic from the militants who have held the capital of Sanaa for over a decade.

This move follows a series of aggressive escalations by the Houthis, who recently attempted to cripple the global economy by launching ballistic missiles and drones at Saudi Aramco oil facilities in Riyadh and Khurais.

These Iranian-funded proxies have spent months disrupting international shipping lanes in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, proving once again that they are a menace to global stability.

While the Houthis continue their campaign of chaos—including the recent encirclement of the key city of Taiz and the severing of vital supply routes—the Saudi-led coalition is responding with targeted strikes against Houthi positions in Sanaa, Saada, and beyond.

The conflict, which reignited in July, remains a stark reminder of the danger posed by Tehran’s regional expansionism. The Yemeni government’s effort to weaken these militants is a critical step in countering the influence of a regime that views global energy supplies and sovereign borders as mere targets for their ideological warfare.
