President Trump is wasting no time in exercising American strength to bring an end to the protracted war in Ukraine. His top negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow for three hours of high-level, constructive talks.
This diplomatic push, which follows a recent visit to the Russian capital by CIA Director John Ratcliffe, aims to finalize a proposal to end the conflict that has dragged on for years under the previous administration's failed policies.
During the meeting, Putin acknowledged the necessity of these contacts and expressed a high level of trust in the American team. The discussions, described by Russian officials as frank, touched on both the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis and potential mutually beneficial economic projects.
As part of the ongoing de-escalation efforts, both sides have agreed to a three-day halt on strikes against each other's capitals. The envoys are now set to travel to Kyiv to meet with President Zelensky, marking the first time the Trump team will hold direct talks in the Ukrainian capital.
While the path to a lasting peace remains complex, the Trump administration is actively engaging where others have failed, prioritizing a substantive resolution to the conflict that addresses the root causes of the war.
