The rule of law has finally caught up with Daniel Adongo, a former NFL player whose time in the United States was marked by criminal behavior and a blatant disregard for immigration statutes. Adongo, who played for the Indianapolis Colts, had been living in the country on an expired visa since 2016.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed his removal on June 20, following an order issued in March. ICE officials rightly labeled Adongo a 'dangerous individual' and a threat to the community. His record over the last decade includes multiple arrests for serious offenses, such as felony intimidation, battery, and disorderly conduct.
In 2020, he was convicted of criminal mischief and served nearly a year in prison. Most recently, his legal troubles triggered the Laken Riley Act, a critical piece of legislation signed by President Trump in early 2025 that mandates the detention of illegal aliens arrested for theft or violent crimes.
While some have attempted to deflect from his criminal record by pointing to personal struggles, ICE Chicago assistant field office director Douglas Thompson made it clear that the law applies to everyone, regardless of their past professional status.
By removing Adongo, federal authorities have ensured that a threat to public safety is no longer on American soil.
