Appeals Court Reins in Biden's Reckless Mail-Order Abortion Regime

A federal court has temporarily restored in-person requirements for mifepristone, dealing a blow to the administration's push for widespread chemical abortions.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has delivered a significant victory for the protection of unborn life, temporarily reinstating a requirement that abortion pills be obtained in person. This ruling effectively curbs the Biden administration’s dangerous policy of allowing mail-order chemical abortions, which bypassed traditional medical oversight.

In its order, the court rightly noted that the FDA’s previous actions undermined state laws, such as Louisiana’s, which recognize that every unborn child is a human being from the moment of conception. The lawsuit, spearheaded by Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, challenges the federal government’s reckless expansion of access to these drugs.

Murrill celebrated the decision, noting that the Biden-era rules have facilitated the deaths of countless unborn children.

Predictably, Danco Laboratories, the manufacturer of mifepristone, has petitioned the Supreme Court to intervene and pause the ruling, claiming the regulation causes them 'irreparable harm.' Meanwhile, abortion activists and their allies in state government, such as New York Attorney General Letitia James, are doubling down on their commitment to keep these drugs flowing.

Pro-life advocates, including Marjorie Dannenfelser of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, hailed the appellate court's decision as a necessary step in ending the industry's mail-order abortion regime. The case continues to move through the courts, serving as a critical check on federal overreach and the casual disregard for the sanctity of life.
