The friction between Kyiv and the Trump administration continues to escalate as Serhii Beskrestnov, a key adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky, alleges that incomplete U.S. intelligence warnings have led to preventable deaths during Russian ballistic missile strikes.
Beskrestnov claims that the flow of critical data has been inconsistent, sometimes arriving only moments before an attack or not at all. These allegations follow a period of diplomatic strain between the two nations, fueled by reports of a controversial deal involving Russian oil imports.
While President Zelensky previously stated that intelligence sharing had been restored after a brief pause, Beskrestnov insists that the air raid alert component of the data sharing remains unreliable.
The White House and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have dismissed these claims, with Rubio characterizing the situation as a potential software issue rather than a policy shift. Meanwhile, concerns have also been raised regarding Starlink and its military-grade service, Starshield, which has implemented speed restrictions on mobile units.
While Elon Musk has suggested the U.S. government holds ultimate control over Starshield access, the Trump administration maintains that its commitment to providing aid to Ukraine remains unparalleled.
As Kyiv seeks to develop alternative communication systems to mitigate future reliance on Starlink, the administration continues to emphasize its primary objective: bringing an end to the war.
