Ukraine has escalated its defense efforts, launching an unprecedented drone assault on Russian soil that reached as far as St. Petersburg. The operation, which President Volodymyr Zelensky described as a just response to Russian attacks, successfully targeted key military arsenals and a naval base in Kronstadt, the primary outpost for Russia’s Baltic Fleet.

According to Ukrainian officials, drones traveled over 600 miles to strike these strategic assets, while additional strikes hit an oil depot in the Krasnodar region.

A commander with Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces noted that their units are operating deep within Russian territory with minimal resistance, proving that the Kremlin’s air defenses are struggling to protect its own logistics and supply lines.

The Russian defense ministry claimed to have intercepted hundreds of drones across various regions, but the impact was significant enough to force officials in St. Petersburg to urge residents to stay indoors for the first time since the 2022 invasion.

This surge in tactical strikes comes as Vladimir Putin continues to reject calls for a ceasefire, doubling down on his demands for territorial concessions and Ukrainian neutrality.

While global leaders discuss potential mediation, Ukraine is making it clear that it will continue to dismantle the infrastructure fueling Moscow's war machine until the threat is neutralized.
