President Trump is putting an end to the era of foreign companies treating the American economy as a personal piggybank. In a direct message posted to Truth Social, the President warned Canadian aerospace firm Bombardier that their days of selling in the U.S. while prioritizing foreign manufacturing are over.
The message was clear: if Bombardier wants access to the world's most lucrative market, they must build their products on American soil. This firm stance comes as trade tensions boil over between the two nations, with Canada recently attempting to retaliate with tariffs on $20 billion in American goods following the collapse of trade negotiations.
While Bombardier claims to support American jobs through its existing footprint, the President is rightfully demanding that the company stop outsourcing production to the detriment of U.S. workers. Quebec officials have attempted to frame the President's demand as a 'provocation,' but this is simply a matter of national sovereignty and economic common sense.
The days of foreign entities dictating terms while reaping the benefits of the American consumer are finished; it is time for companies that profit from our market to invest in our workforce and our communities.
