President Trump is once again testing the waters of diplomacy with the Iranian regime, announcing that new talks are scheduled to commence this Monday. The President revealed that he recently aborted what would have been a massive military response to Iranian aggression, noting that the regime was fully aware of the scale of the impending strike.
According to the President, the decision to pause was made after receiving requests from key Middle Eastern allies, including Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, as well as partners in the UAE and Qatar, who believe a deal regarding the Strait of Hormuz and nuclear proliferation is within reach.
While the President has made it clear that he is not eager to take lives, he emphasized that the U.S. military remains 'locked and loaded' and prepared to act with overwhelming force if diplomacy fails.
Tehran, predictably, has attempted to muddy the waters, with the semi-official Mehr news agency labeling the President’s account a 'lie,' despite ongoing reports of separate negotiations in Oman.
As global oil markets react to the shifting tensions, the administration continues to balance the necessity of projecting American strength with the potential for a negotiated resolution.
