President Trump is signaling that the massive, purpose-built UFC arena currently rising on the White House South Lawn may become a permanent addition to the executive residence.
The structure, which features domed arches over the octagon, is being constructed for 'UFC Freedom 250,' a historic event scheduled for June 14 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence.
In a recent statement, the President compared the project to the Eiffel Tower, noting that the iconic French landmark was originally intended to be temporary before its popularity secured its permanence. With the UFC investing $60 million into the project, the President suggested he might 'never, ever take it down' because of its broad appeal.
The event itself is set to be a massive production, headlined by a lightweight unification bout between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje, with a co-main event featuring Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane.
UFC President Dana White confirmed that 4,300 attendees, primarily military personnel, will be hosted on the South Lawn, while 85,000 free tickets will be provided for public viewing at the nearby Ellipse Park.
This initiative continues President Trump’s trend of bold renovations to the White House grounds, following his previous efforts to modernize the Oval Office, refurbish historic quarters, and expand the residence's event capabilities.
