The Sudanese military conducted a drone strike on the village of Ghara al-Zawiya, a location currently held by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). According to the Emergency Lawyers Group, the strike targeted a gathering that included local community leaders and RSF commanders, resulting in 35 fatalities and dozens of injuries.

Reports indicate that at least two RSF commanders and four tribal leaders were among the dead. The Sudanese army has not issued a formal comment regarding the operation. This strike is the latest escalation in a three-year civil war that has left the region in turmoil.

The RSF continues to maintain control over much of Darfur and has faced significant international scrutiny, including accusations of war crimes and genocidal tactics during their siege of el-Fasher.

While the Emergency Lawyers Group has condemned the strike as a violation of international humanitarian law, the reality remains that the RSF is an active combatant in a brutal conflict that has devastated the nation.

The use of drone technology by both sides highlights the intensifying nature of the fighting as the military attempts to reclaim territory from the paramilitary group.
