The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) took decisive action this weekend to eliminate Ali Samir al-Haj Hassan, a battalion commander within Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force. The strike, which targeted a Hezbollah military headquarters, was a direct response to an earlier attack that left three Israeli soldiers seriously wounded.

While Lebanese officials have attempted to frame the operation as an attack on civilians, the IDF confirmed that Hassan was a lawful target who deliberately embedded his command post within a residential area.

The IDF stated that Hassan and several other terrorists were killed while hiding alongside family members, whom the terror group utilized as human shields to provide cover for their operations.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office clarified that the IDF was unaware civilians were present in the compound until after the strike, noting that Hezbollah’s strategy relies on endangering its own people to manufacture propaganda against Israel.

Despite the ongoing efforts to maintain a ceasefire framework established in June, Hezbollah continues to reject disarmament and persists in launching attacks from southern Lebanon.

The IDF remains committed to its mission of neutralizing threats to Israeli citizens and soldiers, refusing to allow the Iran-backed militia to operate with impunity from its self-declared security zones.
