The regime in Tehran is once again attempting to rewrite the narrative of the ongoing conflict, demanding the release of three pilots it claims are being held by Qatar. Brig. Gen.
Mohammad Bagherzadeh, representing the Iranian military, alleged that pilots Javad Salehi, Abdul Majid Dashtian, and Imran Behroshian have been held for six months following a failed combat mission that targeted a Qatari military installation. Qatar has unequivocally rejected these accusations, labeling the Iranian claims as misleading.
Qatari foreign affairs spokesperson Majed Mohammed Al Ansari clarified that the pilots were intercepted only after violating Qatari airspace, asserting that the nation took necessary and lawful measures to defend its territory.
While Tehran attempts to portray itself as a victim of international law violations, Qatar maintains that it has acted with full transparency, even attempting to coordinate the handover of the remains of a fourth pilot, Majid Kazemi, who was killed during the operation.
Despite Qatar extending an invitation for an Iranian fact-finding team to review the search and rescue findings as early as April, Tehran has failed to respond, preferring instead to peddle grievances to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Qatar’s decisive action in protecting its borders serves as a reminder that those who engage in hostile military operations against sovereign nations must accept the consequences of their aggression.
