Putin Doubles Down: Russia Shows No Intent to End Ukraine Invasion

Despite heavy losses and economic strain, the Kremlin is signaling a long-term commitment to dismantling Ukraine as a sovereign state.

Vladimir Putin is showing zero signs of backing down in his full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as the Kremlin continues to prioritize military victory over the stability of its own economy.

Despite suffering significant battlefield losses, Russia is doubling down on its efforts to exhaust Ukraine’s defenses, specifically targeting critical infrastructure with ballistic missiles and drones while exploiting shortages in Western-supplied air defense systems.

The Russian leadership remains emboldened, viewing the conflict not as an unprovoked invasion, but as a necessary struggle against Western influence. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov continues to peddle the narrative that Russia is the victim of a European-led war, a transparent attempt to deflect responsibility for the 2022 invasion.

Meanwhile, Russian strategists are actively employing a 'grey zone' campaign of cyber-attacks and sabotage across Europe, aimed at rattling Western resolve and cutting off the military and financial support that keeps Kyiv in the fight.

Prominent Russian voices have even escalated their rhetoric to include nuclear threats, betting that the West lacks the stomach for a direct confrontation. With Moscow explicitly stating its goal is to destroy Ukraine as a viable state, it is clear that the Kremlin is not looking for a diplomatic off-ramp, but rather a total subjugation of its neighbor.
