The political future of Congressman Eric Swalwell is in jeopardy after the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office confirmed an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against the Democrat. Four women have come forward with claims ranging from sexual harassment to rape, including an incident allegedly occurring in New York.

The accusations, which Swalwell denies, have already caused a massive exodus of support from high-profile Democrats, including Senator Adam Schiff and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

One accuser, a former staffer, detailed a pattern of inappropriate behavior and alleged two separate assaults, claiming she was too intoxicated to consent during encounters in 2019 and 2024. As the Manhattan prosecutor’s Special Victims Division urges other potential victims to come forward, Swalwell’s campaign is reeling.

While he continues to insist the claims are false, his own congressional and campaign staff issued a statement calling the alleged behavior 'abhorrent' and 'beneath the dignity' of public office.

With California’s primary fast approaching, these revelations threaten to upend the Democratic field in a state where the party has held the governorship for two decades, potentially creating an opening for Republican challengers to capitalize on the chaos.
