The Polish interior ministry confirmed that security services have arrested a man accused of planning an assassination attempt against Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz. The suspect, a Polish national, was apprehended in the Lower Silesia region following a tip-off received by the State Protection Service.
Officials treated the intelligence as a deadly serious threat, prompting an immediate emergency meeting of the nation's security services. Jacek Dobrzynski, a spokesman for the Special Services Co-ordinator, confirmed that there was a strong likelihood the threats could have been carried out had authorities not intervened.
Prime Minister Tusk publicly commended the police for their swift and decisive action in neutralizing the danger. The investigation remains ongoing as the government maintains its focus on protecting the nation's leadership from those who seek to undermine stability through violence.
