Meta is doubling down on its aggressive push into artificial intelligence, announcing a new initiative that turns its own workforce into a data-harvesting operation. The company confirmed it is deploying a tool, known as the Model Capability Initiative (MCI), to track employee keystrokes and mouse clicks on internal applications.

Management claims this invasive monitoring is necessary to provide 'real examples' for AI agents designed to automate computer tasks.

While Meta insists that safeguards are in place to protect sensitive content, the move has sparked internal backlash, with some employees describing the environment as 'dystopian' and feeling that the company is forcing its AI agenda upon them.

This shift coincides with a drastic reduction in job postings, as the company pivots resources toward its massive $140 billion AI spending target for 2026. Meta has already funneled billions into data-labeling firms and internal research labs to accelerate this transition.

Mark Zuckerberg has made it clear that he views 2026 as the year AI fundamentally alters the workplace, aiming to replace large teams with automated systems. For the staff at Meta, the message is clear: their daily work habits are no longer their own, but are instead being mined to build the very technology that may eventually render their roles obsolete.
