The Iranian regime continues to project its hostility toward the West, using the funeral of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a stage for anti-American rhetoric. During processions in the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala, mourners were heard chanting 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel' as the casket was moved through Shia shrines.
Khamenei, a central figure in Iran's long-standing defiance of Western interests, was killed during the current war with the U.S. and Israel. While the regime attempts to project strength, the absence of his successor, Mojtaba Khamenei—who was reportedly wounded in the same Israeli strike that killed his father—highlights the internal disarray facing Tehran.
President Donald Trump has signaled that the preliminary agreement intended to de-escalate the conflict is effectively dead, following a cycle of retaliatory strikes involving the Strait of Hormuz, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
Despite the regime's bravado and claims that they 'don't fold,' the reality remains that Iran’s aggressive posturing has led to the destruction of its own military targets and the collapse of diplomatic efforts to secure a truce.
