A clandestine network of Russian nationals is actively working to undermine Vladimir Putin’s regime from within, providing critical intelligence and logistical support to Ukrainian military services.
These operatives, some working directly on Russian soil, claim to be involved in high-stakes sabotage efforts, including the surveillance of senior military officers and the facilitation of drone attacks on strategic bombers and munitions factories.
One operative, identified as 'Ivan,' claims to have personally transported explosives and scouted locations for drone components, while another, 'Foma,' operates from exile in Poland to coordinate a network of volunteers tasked with tracking Russian military personnel. Foma’s network reportedly provided intelligence that led to the assassination of Lt. Gen.
Fanil Sarvarov in Moscow last December. While the Ukrainian GUR intelligence agency confirms these individuals are working on their behalf, they remain cautious, acknowledging the inherent difficulty in vetting assets operating in such a hostile environment.
These saboteurs, driven by opposition to the war and the current Russian leadership, describe a dangerous, decentralized existence where any misstep could lead to decades in a Russian prison.
Despite the risks and the skepticism of their own handlers, these operatives maintain that their actions are a necessary effort to weaken the Russian military machine and hold those responsible for the war in Ukraine accountable.
