Law enforcement in Delhi took necessary action on Monday to restore order after thousands of protesters, associated with the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), engaged in widespread violence and defied a clear police ban on marching toward parliament.

The situation escalated when agitators began attacking police personnel with stones and other objects, vandalizing government vehicles, and damaging public property. Facing an unruly and aggressive crowd that refused to disperse despite repeated warnings, police utilized tear gas and batons to clear the area and maintain public safety.

According to official reports, 118 police officers sustained injuries during the clashes, while 70 individuals involved in the unrest were detained. The CJP, a movement that has been camping at the Jantar Mantar site for weeks, is demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over issues related to exam paper leaks.

While opposition leaders have attempted to politicize the unrest to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration, the government has maintained its firm stance against the disruption.

Despite the police operation to clear the site, organizers have signaled their intent to continue the occupation, ignoring the administration’s calls to restore normalcy and assist in maintaining public order.
