Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, bowing to pressure from a five-week protest movement led by the 'Cockroach Janta Party' (CJP).

The CJP, an online satirical platform that evolved into a real-world protest movement, had demanded accountability regarding exam paper leaks and systemic failures in the education sector.

Pradhan stated his resignation was intended to prevent 'anti-national forces' from exploiting the situation and to ensure the focus returns to the academic future of Indian students.

The protests reached a boiling point earlier this week following a police crackdown on demonstrators attempting to march to parliament, which resulted in dozens of injuries and approximately 70 arrests.

While the movement claims a victory, the government has already signaled a shift in policy, with Prime Minister Modi announcing plans for fast-track courts and a new, stringent law to address examination paper leaks.

Despite the minister's departure, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has indicated that the group intends to continue its activism, specifically calling for compensation for families affected by exam cancellations and investigations into police conduct during the July 20 demonstrations.

The movement, which gained significant traction on social media, has become a focal point for public frustration regarding employment and educational opportunities, testing the political resolve of the Modi administration.
