Indian authorities have taken decisive action to restore order in Delhi, detaining Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the so-called 'Cockroach Janta Party' (CJP), as he attempted to lead an unauthorized protest.
Dipke’s detention marks the second time in a week that police have intervened to stop the movement's activities, which have frequently targeted the country’s Election Commission.
The CJP, a youth-led group that has been agitating for the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, has repeatedly challenged government authority by attempting to gather at restricted sites, including the Jantar Mantar area near parliament.
Police, tasked with maintaining public order and preventing unauthorized gatherings, have been forced to deploy thousands of personnel and seal off commercial districts like Connaught Place to manage the disruptions.
The movement's other top leaders, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, were previously jailed for five days after breaching the conditions of their release by returning to a prohibited protest site.
Despite claims from the CJP that the Election Commission is manipulating voter lists to favor the ruling BJP, both the Commission and Home Minister Amit Shah have firmly denied these allegations, characterizing the opposition's claims as falsehoods.
As the movement continues to push against established security protocols, authorities remain focused on enforcing the law and ensuring that public spaces remain accessible and secure for the general population.
