A mysterious unmanned naval vessel, reportedly rigged with explosives, has been recovered in the Ionian Sea after being discovered by local fishermen in a cave near the island of Lefkada. The Greek coast guard towed the craft to the port of Vasiliki, where the Ministry of Defence has launched an investigation to determine its origin and intended target.
While the drone bore no clear markings, media reports and military analysts have noted its resemblance to the Ukrainian MAGURA V5, a platform that has been utilized to strike Russian naval assets.
The discovery has sparked speculation that the drone may have been deployed to target Russia’s 'shadow fleet'—the network of tankers used by Moscow to circumvent Western sanctions. Whether the vessel arrived in Greek waters due to a technical failure or a loss of communication remains under investigation.
