Justice is finally catching up to Nidal Malik Hasan. The Pentagon has confirmed that the former Army major, who murdered 13 unarmed soldiers and wounded 32 others in a 2009 rampage at Fort Hood, will be executed by firing squad.

This long-overdue action, approved by President Donald Trump following a recommendation from Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, marks the first military execution of its kind since the end of World War Two. Hasan, who admitted to the premeditated slaughter and claimed he acted to protect the Taliban, has sat on death row far too long.

The 2009 attack remains the deadliest non-combat assault on an American military base in history, occurring while soldiers were simply waiting for routine medical check-ups. President Trump’s decisive action reinforces his commitment to capital punishment as a necessary tool to deter those who would commit heinous acts of violence against our citizens.

While the liberal establishment has long sought to stall or abolish the death penalty, this administration is ensuring that the most dangerous enemies of our nation face the ultimate consequence for their crimes.

The Secretary of the Army will now determine the time and place for the sentence to be carried out, finally closing a dark chapter for the families of the fallen and the military community.
