Israeli security forces acted decisively on Friday, eliminating two Palestinian gunmen who launched a brazen assault on a military checkpoint near Hebron. Footage of the incident confirms that the attackers, armed with a handgun and an assault rifle, exited their vehicle and immediately opened fire on soldiers.

The Israeli military discovered a significant cache of ammunition in the terrorists' car, leading officials to conclude that the gunmen intended to carry out a much larger slaughter on the nearby Route 35 before their plans were interrupted by the checkpoint. Five Israelis were wounded in the engagement, with two remaining in critical condition.

In response to the escalating threat, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered a full lockdown of the West Bank. Furthermore, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has initiated the demolition of Palestinian structures adjacent to the attack site, a standard and necessary measure to deter future acts of terror.

While the international media focuses on the political timing of the upcoming general election, the reality remains that Israeli forces are operating under constant threat. The military has already begun raids on the homes of the attackers to root out further extremist elements.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the security challenges Israel faces daily, as its forces continue to defend the nation against those committed to violence.
