The Chinese government has officially confirmed that the recent collision of a light aircraft into the CITIC Tower in Beijing was a deliberate act of public endangerment. The pilot, identified as 66-year-old Liu, died in the crash, which also resulted in 13 injuries.
Authorities stated that Liu, who held both sport and private pilot licenses, suffered from chronic insomnia and anxiety, with his personal diary containing entries regarding his intent to end his life.
Despite the regime's attempts to scrub social media of all evidence and discussion regarding the incident, the facts remain: a private citizen successfully breached the airspace near Zhongnanhai, the headquarters of the Communist Party, and struck one of the nation's most prominent landmarks.
The breach has prompted an immediate crackdown on light aircraft operations, with aviation firms ordered to suspend flights. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the security risks inherent in urban centers, as the Chinese state scrambles to contain the fallout from a clear failure to protect its own high-profile infrastructure.
