The family of Charlie Kirk, the influential conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder, faced the man accused of his murder in a Utah courtroom on Monday.
Tyler Robinson, 23, stands charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstructing justice, and witness tampering in connection with the September 10, 2025, shooting at Utah Valley University.
The brutal attack, which claimed the life of the 31-year-old father of two, sparked an immediate manhunt that led to Robinson’s arrest just two days later. As the preliminary hearing began, Utah County prosecutors made it clear they intend to hold the suspect fully accountable, officially seeking the death penalty for the heinous crime.
While Robinson’s defense team has attempted to suppress evidence and shield the proceedings from public view by banning cameras, the judicial process is moving forward. Kirk’s widow, Erika, and his parents, Robert and Kathryn, were present as the state began presenting testimony from law enforcement witnesses.
The family has maintained a dignified silence, requesting privacy while the legal system works to deliver justice for a life cut short by senseless violence. Robinson, who has yet to enter a plea, remains in custody as the court weighs the gravity of the charges against him.
