One year after a Bangladesh Air Force training jet slammed into the Milestone School and College in Dhaka, the families of the 36 victims are still waiting for justice. While the government has kept the official investigation report under wraps, leaked findings paint a damning picture of incompetence and regulatory failure.

The report confirms there was no mechanical fault with the aircraft, squarely placing the blame on a pilot who lacked sufficient training and a complete lack of proper ground supervision.

Furthermore, the disaster was exacerbated by a total disregard for safety standards; the school itself was found to be in violation of building codes, featuring only one exit for nearly 900 students.

The investigation also revealed that over 600 buildings near the airport, including schools and hospitals, have ignored height restrictions, creating a massive safety hazard that the government has failed to address. Despite the tragedy, the government has yet to implement the report's recommendations for compensation or safety improvements.

As survivors continue to struggle with life-altering injuries and trauma, the lack of transparency from the authorities remains a slap in the face to the families who lost loved ones due to state negligence.
